Harken Classic, Radial, Performa Racing Winches

Harken classic plain-top single-speed winches complement the look of Harken's Radial® line in smaller sizes and are the finest small winches made. They feature all-metal bases and bushings or bearings where other brands use plastic bodies and no bearings.

The B6 and B8 feature a simple Delrin-bearing sheave. This bearing is almost maintenance free and requires only occasional cleaning. These winches are are ideal for small daysailers and pocket cruisers who want to avoid the hassle of pulling directly from the sheet.

Harken Aluminum Radial® Winches are designed for sailors who want lightweight, extremely strong winches with plenty of power. Harken Chrome Radial® Winches are designed for sailors who want the elegance of mirror-polished chrome to enhance their yacht’s lines. They feature chrome drums, black composite bases and tops.

The drum’s gripping surface is shaped for each winch size and drum material and features diagonal ribs (rather than textured abrasive materials) to maximize gripping power and greatly reduce line wear. When easing, the angle of the ribs stops line from rising, preventing overrides and providing a smooth, controlled release as the line exits the winch. Aluminum drums and high-strength composite self-tailing jaws and skirt save weight. Composite roller bearings reduce friction under load and don’t require lubrication. Load-carrying gears and pins are 17-4PH stainless steel for strength and durability.

Harken Performa™ Racing winches are for racers and racer/cruisers using high-tech line who don’t want to invest in a carbon winch, or who need winches in smaller sizes. The Performa design combines the efficiency of Harken Radial® winches with the sandblasted grip of its carbon fiber racing winch for a powerful hybrid. Performa winches transfer high loads to the winch with fewer wraps, allowing crew to trim and ease sails quickly and repeatedly as wind strength and directions change.
